Manchester united 2nd choice keeper is set to make his first appearance in over six months against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium next Saturday if David de Gea fails to recover from a dislocated finger, with former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdés yet to be offered a contract at Old Trafford following a serious knee injury.

Blind injury.

Image
MAN UNITED had been left fearing the worst after Blind limped out of Holland's 6-0 win over Latvia yesterday. A ruptured cruciate or medial ligament would have meant the versatile United star could have been sidelined for up to nine months. But Express Sport understands the 24-year-old has only suffered a slight tear to his ligament - and though that is still expected rule him out until the new year, it is not the long-term injury that could have been the worst case scenario. Blind's absence is still a huge blow to United manager Louis Van Gaal who has been hit by a spate of injuries since taking charge at Old Trafford. Go to daily express football for more.

Ronaldo returns to Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo touched down in Manchester on Sunday evening ahead of his much-anticipated return to Old Trafford - a match that will see the Real Madrid star go head-to-head with Ballon d'Or rival Lionel Messi. Wearing a red Michael Jordan Nike baseball hat with the words 'Born and Bred' on the front, Ronaldo arrived in Manchester with his Portugal team-mates where they face Argentina in a friendly at Old Trafford on Tuesday night and the Real Madrid forward is most certainly the star attraction. The former Manchester United ace will make just his second appearance at his former stomping ground since leaving for Madrid in 2009 - and the presence of Barcelona's Messi means there will be a mouthwatering clash in prospect.
